Mumbai, Oct 9: Indian stock markets ended Friday’s trading session on a strong note, with the BSE Sensex jumping 879 points to close at 72,472, while the NSE Nifty 50 gained 289 points to finish above the 22,520 mark.

Sensex Jumps 879 Points, Nifty Crosses 22,500 as IT Stocks Lead Market Rally

The sharp rally added more than ₹4 lakh crore to the combined market capitalisation of companies listed on the BSE, taking the total value to nearly ₹465 lakh crore.

Buying interest in information technology stocks supported the market recovery and lifted investor sentiment. The strong gains provided relief to investors following recent market weakness.

The rise in market capitalisation reflects the increase in the overall market value of listed companies during the session. The rally also highlighted renewed buying interest across the market.

Investors will continue to track corporate earnings, global market trends, foreign investor activity and crude oil prices for further direction. Despite Friday’s strong recovery, market movements are likely to remain sensitive to domestic and international economic developments.
