The initiative, formally launched on 27 November 2025, significantly strengthens the Math’s digital infrastructure.

Inaugration

The launch ceremony was inaugurated by His Holiness, Paramapoojya Shreemad Vidyadheesh Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji, along with Shri Rohan Khaunte, Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Tourism, and Printing & Stationery; Dr. Chandrakhant Shetye, Chairman, ITG; Shri Kabir Shirgaonkar, Director, DITE&C; Shri Praveen Volvotkar, Managing Director, ITG; and Shri Shrinivas Shenvi Dempo, President, Central Committee & Sardha Panchashatamanotsava Committee.

This initiative, under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, reflects the Goa Government’s commitment to enhancing the state’s digital ecosystem.

While Canacona already benefits from 5G networks by Jio and BSNL, connectivity has been further enhanced through Airtel (Indus Towers) around the Math premises, improving mobile coverage for the wider community and supporting the region’s growth as a spiritual tourism hub, home to the 77-foot bronze idol.

“I am grateful to the Goa Government and Minister Rohan Khaunte for ensuring that all digital arrangements are in place ahead of Friday’s grand ceremony. This initiative brings much-needed digital infrastructure to rural areas and supports the Math and its community,” said His Holiness, Paramapoojya Shreemad Vidyadheesh Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji.

Shri Rohan Khaunte, Hon’ble Minister of IT, Electronics & Communications, added, “The deployment of WiFi access points and CCTV infrastructure reinforces our commitment to strengthening Goa’s digital backbone. While it supports the immediate needs of the celebrations, its benefits extend beyond, impacting residents, devotees, and tourists alike, and contributing to the State’s growth as a key spiritual tourism destination.”

The digital infrastructure, implemented through ITG, includes WiFi hotspots offering speeds up to 10Gbps with seamless login via SMS or WhatsApp. Out of over 100 installed access points, 57 are permanent, providing lasting connectivity to residents and devotees, while the remainder are temporary additions to manage peak footfall during the grand Sardha Panchashatamanotsava celebrations.

The 240+ CCTV cameras, including 80 permanent units, feature advanced AI capabilities to monitor crowd density, track habitual offenders, and enhance public safety year-round.

Through this initiative, DITE&C continues to extend reliable digital services across Goa, ensuring even rural areas and high-footfall spiritual hubs benefit from state-of-the-art connectivity and surveillance solutions.
