Mom 2’ Shoot Begins at Jewar Film City; First “Action” Echoes Across the Project Site

Greater Noida, Mar 02: In a landmark moment for Uttar Pradesh’s ambitious Film City project, the shooting of Mom 2 has officially commenced at Bayview Bhutani International Film City in Greater Noida. The film becomes the first project to go on floors at the site, even as construction work continues in phases.

The land for the project was allotted on February 27, 2025. Within just a year, set construction began, and now the team of Mom 2 is actively filming key sequences and the climax at the location. This marks not only the start of a film shoot but also the beginning of a new chapter for the film industry in Uttar Pradesh.

Several other films are scheduled to be shot at the Film City this year. The sets created for Mom 2 will be preserved even after the completion of filming, enabling their use for other films and OTT projects. This initiative is expected to ensure continuous production activity and foster a sustainable creative ecosystem.

The film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Khushi Kapoor, Karishma Tanna, Jisshu Sengupta, and Manoj Pahwa in pivotal roles. It is directed by Girish Kohli, who also contributed to the writing of the 2017 film Mom. The project is being produced by Boney Kapoor and Akshay Puri under their respective banners, Bayview Projects and 12th Street Entertainment.

Speaking on the occasion, Boney Kapoor said,

“This is an extremely emotional moment for me. The vision behind this Film City was to create a world-class creative hub. The fact that it begins not with a foundation ceremony but with an actual film shoot makes it truly special. We are not just building infrastructure here; we are creating an ecosystem for storytellers. Discussions are already underway for three to four more films to be shot here. Out of the 400 crew members working on Mom 2, nearly 100 are local talents.”

The project is being developed by Bayview Bhutani Film City Private Limited, a joint venture between Boney Kapoor and the Bhutani Group, under an agreement with the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority. Even before the completion of full-scale construction, primary shooting zones have been made operational to facilitate immediate filming.

Ashish Bhutani, CEO of Bhutani Infra, stated,

“Today is a proud day for us. The International Film City will generate new employment opportunities and accelerate regional development. This project is not only significant for Uttar Pradesh but also a major step towards positioning India strongly on the global film map. The sets created for Mom 2 will be retained, and any production house wishing to shoot here in the future will be able to use them free of cost.”

Located near the upcoming Jewar International Airport, the Film City is being developed as a comprehensive production hub with state-of-the-art sound stages, backlots, post-production facilities, and hospitality infrastructure.
