Aster Volunteers and Varghese Moolan Foundation Launch 5th Phase of ‘Spandanam’ to Provide Free Heart Surgeries for Underprivileged Children

Kochi, Mar 02: Aster Medcity, in collaboration with Aster Volunteers and the Varghese Moolan Foundation, successfully launched the fifth phase of the Spandanam – Touch A Heart initiative, providing free cardiac care to 23 underprivileged children under the age of 18.

 This phase of the program benefited families from across Kerala, including Palakkad, Wayanad, Malappuram, Thrissur, Ernakulam, and Kollam, who previously lacked access to treatment for congenital heart disease. Of the children screened, 15 will undergo interventional procedures, while the remaining will receive full cardiac surgery. Comprehensive testing and follow-up care were also provided at no cost.

Led by Dr. Edwin Francis, Director and Senior Consultant of Paediatric Cardiology at Aster Medcity, the expert team diagnosed and planned the necessary interventions for each child.

The event was graced by Dr. Varghese Moolan, Chairman of the Varghese Moolan Foundation, and Dr. Nalanda Jayadev, CEO of Aster Medcity, along with a team of specialized pediatric cardiac doctors. The initiative underscores the commitment of Aster Medcity and its partners to delivering accessible, high-quality healthcare to children in need.
