Mumbai, Aug 6: For a community whose culinary traditions are as rich as they are elusive to the everyday diner, Parsi food rarely finds its way onto a hotel menu with the authenticity of a home kitchen. This August, Fairfield by Marriott Mumbai Andheri West is looking to change that with Jamva Chalo Ji, a curated Parsi culinary experience at its all-day dining restaurant, Pana, running from 14th to 23rd August.
The festival brings to Mumbai‘s dining scene the cooking of Chef Daugdo Ragina, a specialist in Parsi home style cuisine known for preserving the flavours and techniques passed down through generations of Parsi households. Rather than reinterpreting the cuisine for a restaurant setting, the festival promises dishes that stay true to how they are traditionally made at home — slow-cooked, generously spiced, and built on recipes that rarely make it beyond family kitchens.
Guests can look forward to Parsi classics that have long defined the community’s food culture — think Dhansak with its distinctive blend of lentils and spice, Patra Ni Machhi steamed in banana leaf, and the sweet-tart notes that run through much of Parsi cooking. The menu is expected to be a nostalgic trip for those familiar with the cuisine and a genuine discovery for those encountering it for the first time.
“Jamva Chalo Ji” — a phrase that loosely translates to “Come, Let’s Eat” and is traditionally used to call guests to the table at Parsi gatherings — will be available as part of the dinner spread through the ten-day run of the festival from 14th to 23rd August. In addition, Fairfield by Marriott Mumbai Andheri West will host special Parsi brunches on 16th and 23rd August offering a more leisurely weekend format for guests to explore the cuisine at length.
By anchoring the festival around a home–style specialist rather than a conventional restaurant chef, Fairfield by Marriott Mumbai Andheri West is positioning “Jamva Chalo Ji” as less of a themed menu and more of an invitation into an actual Parsi kitchen — right in the heart of Andheri West.
The festival is open to walk-ins and reservations at Pana, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant.
