PlatinumRx helps young professionals manage their parents’ monthly medicines from anywhere in India

Pune, Aug 20: PlatinumRx, an affordable chronic medications platform, is helping young professionals manage their parents’ recurring medicine requirements from different cities while reducing monthly healthcare expenses by up to 60 percentage.

Through the platform, users can find affordable alternatives with the same salt composition and quality as prescribed medicines and have them delivered directly to their parents’ homes. This allows families to manage regular medicines for conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol and cardiac ailments without being physically present.

PlatinumRx has helped more than 10 lakh users collectively save over ₹137 crore on medicines. The platform currently delivers across more than 19,000 PIN codes in India, allowing users in cities such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai to place medicine orders for parents living in their hometowns.

The service is becoming particularly relevant as more young Indians move away from home for employment. For many professionals, caring for parents from a distance includes keeping track of prescriptions, ensuring medicines are reordered on time and managing the rising cost of long-term treatment.

For instance, a technology professional working in Bengaluru may be responsible for the monthly medicines of a diabetic parent living nearly 2,000 kilometres away in Lucknow. If the family spends around ₹5,000 every month on medicines, finding affordable alternatives could lead to savings of up to ₹3,000, depending on the prescribed medicines and available options.

“Many young professionals are managing their parents’ healthcare responsibilities from another city. They want to be sure that the medicines are reliable, reach their parents on time and remain affordable over the long term. PlatinumRx is built to make this responsibility simpler and reduce the financial pressure associated with recurring treatment,” said Ashutosh Pandey, Co-founder, PlatinumRx.

Founded in 2023 by IIT and IIM alumni Ashutosh Pandey and Piyush Kumar, PlatinumRx works directly with established pharmaceutical manufacturers. By reducing multiple layers of distributors, stockists and other intermediaries in the supply chain, the company is able to offer medicines at more affordable prices.

The platform exclusively partners with WHO-GMP-certified manufacturers and is accredited by LegitScript. A team of qualified medical professionals evaluates the salts and formulations before they are made available to customers.

PlatinumRx currently operates nine warehouses across India and delivers around 60% of its orders within 48 hours. It is adding six new warehouses to further improve delivery speed and availability across the country.

Users are advised to consult their doctor before switching from a prescribed medicine brand to an alternative, particularly while managing chronic or complex medical conditions.
