New Delhi, Aug 25: Global logistics company FedEx is set to invest around $150 million to develop a new integrated air cargo hub at GMR Cargo City, Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, strengthening India’s air-freight infrastructure and improving links between businesses in northern and eastern India and global markets.

The new facility will cover approximately 2.3 lakh square feet and is expected to significantly expand FedEx’s cargo-handling capabilities at Delhi airport. Once operational, the hub is designed to increase package-processing capacity from around 600 packages per hour to 5,000 packages per hour, with scope for further expansion.
The investment comes as India’s manufacturing, electronics, pharmaceutical and export-oriented sectors generate growing demand for faster and more reliable logistics services. A larger cargo facility at Delhi airport is expected to help businesses move time-sensitive shipments more efficiently and connect them with international markets.
The project is also expected to strengthen Delhi’s position as a major air-cargo gateway for northern and eastern India. Better cargo-processing capacity can support exporters and businesses seeking quicker access to overseas markets while improving the efficiency of supply chains.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the facility was held in New Delhi on Tuesday in the presence of Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu. The development reflects the growing importance of modern air-cargo infrastructure as India expands its manufacturing and international trade base.
