NSE Shares Ease Below IPO Price as Market Volatility Weighs on Stock

Mumbai, Sep 28: Shares of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) slipped below their initial public offering (IPO) price on Monday, reflecting the broader weakness in the Indian equity market and continued volatility across major benchmarks.

NSE shares declined to around ₹1,761 during the session, below the IPO issue price of ₹1,785. The stock has also moved more than 6 per cent lower from its post-listing high of ₹1,878, recorded last week.

The movement in NSE shares comes amid pressure across the domestic market, with the Nifty trading below the 23,000 mark and the Sensex also witnessing losses. Elevated crude oil prices, geopolitical uncertainty and cautious investor sentiment have added to market volatility.

NSE made its market debut last week at ₹1,800, marginally above its issue price, giving the exchange a market capitalisation of around ₹4.49 lakh crore at listing.

The recent price movement comes soon after the highly watched listing and reflects the sensitivity of newly listed shares to overall market conditions, investor flows and broader sentiment.

For the exchange and the wider capital-market ecosystem, the performance of NSE shares will remain closely watched as investors assess trading activity, market participation and developments in the domestic and global financial environment.
