Mumbai, April 9: As anticipation builds for Mumbai Tech Week 2026, an event organised by The Tech Entrepreneurs Association of Mumbai, a new content-led initiative is turning the spotlight on what truly defines the city’s entrepreneurial spirit—its founders. TEAM, in collaboration with Z47, has launched Unstarted, a founder-first video series designed to capture the unfiltered realities of building from scratch.

Unstarted shifts the narrative away from scale and success metrics, instead focusing on the decisions, doubts, and defining moments that shape entrepreneurial journeys.
Speaking on the initiative, Aakrit Vaish, Co- chair of TEAM Governing Council, said,
“We started TEAM with a simple mission — to help build Mumbai’s tech ecosystem. And a core part of that is telling the stories of what’s already been built here. Mumbai has always been a city of resilience and fundamentals, where value creation matters more than noise.
I’m excited that we’ve partnered with Z47 on ‘Unstarted’ to bring these stories to the surface. Not just how founders have built generational companies, but why they chose to build them from Mumbai in the first place.”
Beyond Headlines: The Stories Behind the Builders
In a startup ecosystem often dominated by funding milestones and valuation headlines, Unstarted creates space for deeper, more honest conversations. Each episode features candid, one-on-one interactions with founders, unpacking the inflection points that rarely make it to the public domain—early missteps, unconventional bets, and the resilience required to keep going.
Commenting on the initiative, Avnish Bajaj, Founder and Investor, Z47, said,
“Mumbai has always been where commerce meets conviction. And in a city that never sleeps, it’s an amazing combination! And it’s seeing a resurgence with world class infrastructure that brings builders back to India’s land of dreams. Unstarted is about capturing the unfiltered reality behind the dream – the moments of doubt, the unconventional bets, the decisions that never make it into a pitch deck. The real story of building in Mumbai is richer and more instructive than any headline. That’s what we’re committed to bringing to the surface.”
The series features conversations with prominent founders such as Harsh Jain, Co-founder & CEO at Dream Sports; Revant Bhate, CEO at Mosaic Wellness; Sanket Shah, Co-founder and CEO, Invideo; Jaydeep Barman, Co-founder and Board Chairman at Rebel foods, and many more who share insights into the realities of building enduring businesses.
Unlike traditional stage-driven formats, Unstarted captures the unfiltered, human side of entrepreneurship, enabling nuanced dialogue and reflection.
Mumbai as More Than a Backdrop
At the heart of Unstarted is a distinct narrative choice—to position Mumbai not just as a setting, but as an active influence in each founder’s journey. The series explores how the city’s unique blend of commercial instinct, cultural diversity, and relentless pace shapes decision-making and ambition.
From bootstrapped beginnings to scaled ventures, Mumbai’s ethos of resilience and pragmatism emerges as a recurring theme across conversations.
Building Momentum Ahead of MTW 2026
As Unstarted gains traction, it signals a broader shift in how founder stories are being told—moving from polished narratives to authentic, experience-driven dialogue. The series not only builds early momentum for Mumbai Tech Week but also reinforces Mumbai’s position at the center of a rapidly evolving innovation ecosystem, where ideas are tested, refined and brought to life.
This centrality is reflected in the city’s ability to translate innovation into practical business solutions, with startups across fintech, consumer tech, gaming and media embedding AI into real-world use cases such as fraud detection, risk assessment and content personalisation.
Access to capital further anchors Mumbai’s role at the center of this ecosystem, with a strong presence of numerous banks, venture capital firms, institutional investors and family offices, alongside close connections to enterprise customers and mentors. Combined with a maturing startup landscape and the presence of large listed companies driving significant spending and data generation, Mumbai is emerging as a focal point where AI is integrated into core business functions with a clear focus on outcomes.
By focusing on the human side of entrepreneurship, Unstarted adds depth to the innovation conversation—highlighting that behind every successful venture is a journey shaped by uncertainty, conviction, and the courage to begin. It’s moving beyond flashy results to focus on actual journeys, what founders go through, not just what they achieve.
