HPCL Activates Nationwide Supply & Enforcement Network to Manage Demand Surge

Kolkata, April 08 : As demand for fuel and LPG witnesses a temporary surge across select markets, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has activated a coordinated, nationwide response mechanism to ensure uninterrupted availability and maintain system integrity.

In the first week of April, HPCL scaled up its supply chain operations significantly, recording fuel sales of 2,64,548 KL of Petrol (MS) and 4,77,030 KL of Diesel (HSD) between 1st and 7th April 2026. To support this increased demand, the Company dispatched 48,099 tankers carrying Petrol, Diesel and Subsidised Kerosene, ensuring continuous replenishment across its nationwide network of retail outlets.

The LPG distribution network has also been operating at full capacity, with HPCL delivering 89 lakh cylinders during the same period. The Company further strengthened last-mile accessibility by supplying 187,754 Free Trade LPG cylinders of 5 Kg and 15,335 cylinders of 2 Kg, supporting the needs of migrant workers and economically vulnerable sections.

Digital adoption continues to play a critical role in ensuring seamless service delivery, with 95% of LPG bookings being made through digital platforms, including IVRS, SMS, Missed Call, HP PAY and WhatsApp.

Alongside supply augmentation, HPCL has intensified its enforcement efforts to safeguard consumer interests and maintain transparency across the distribution network. Between 14th March and 7th April 2026, the Company conducted 4,385 inspections, taking action against 74 distributors, including the suspension of 27 distributorships. In coordination with other Oil Marketing Companies and State authorities, 657 raids were carried out, leading to 40 FIRs and the seizure of 3,163 LPG cylinders.

HPCL reiterated that while certain locations may experience temporary pressure due to demand spikes, there is no systemic shortage of fuel or LPG, and supplies remain stable across its network.

The Company has advised consumers to avoid panic-driven purchases and follow regular consumption patterns, while relying on official HPCL communication channels for accurate information.

With a focus on operational agility, real-time monitoring, and coordinated action, HPCL continues to ensure that energy access remains seamless, reliable, and responsive to the nation’s needs.
