Special Handloom Expo to Celebrate India’s Weaving Heritage at Janpath

New Delhi Nov 28: The National Design Centre, with the support of the Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, is hosting a Special Handloom Expo titled “Flowing Essence of Threads” at the Handloom Haat, Janpath. The eight-day showcase, scheduled from 1st to 8th December 2025, will celebrate India’s timeless weaving heritage, vibrant colours, and traditional craftsmanship.

Open daily from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm, the expo will bring together 75 handloom weavers, self-help groups (SHGs), and cooperatives from across the country. The initiative aims to promote authentic handloom traditions while enabling direct interaction between weavers, buyers, exporters, and wholesalers, enhancing market access and recognition for artisan communities.

Visitors can experience the diversity of India’s textile culture through an extensive display of handloom silks, cotton sarees, suit-dupatta sets, shawls, stoles, home furnishings, bedsheets, dhotis, kurtas, and rugs—making it an ideal destination for festive and seasonal shopping. The expo will feature products and weaving traditions from Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.

This initiative by the Ministry of Textiles underscores its commitment to reviving the handloom sector, empowering weavers, and promoting India’s traditional craftsmanship on a national and global stage.
