New Delhi, July 31: In a major step towards strengthening farmer support, the Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme for the period 2026-27 to 2030-31, with a financial allocation of ₹3.15 lakh crore.
The extension will ensure continued income assistance for eligible farmers and reinforce efforts to improve rural livelihoods and agricultural growth. The scheme aims to provide timely financial support to farmers, helping them meet farming expenses and manage cultivation-related requirements.
Since its launch, PM-KISAN has emerged as one of the government’s key farmer welfare initiatives, using direct benefit transfer technology to deliver assistance directly to beneficiaries in a transparent and efficient manner.
The continued focus on the scheme is expected to provide greater financial stability to farming communities, support agricultural activities, and encourage farmers to invest in improving productivity.
Officials said the extended programme reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening the agriculture sector, enhancing farmer welfare, and ensuring sustained support for rural India.
The fresh allocation is expected to further expand the impact of PM-KISAN and support millions of farmers during the coming years.
